< h2 > Climate in Vietnam during June < / h2 >

When we visited Vietnam in June, we were fortunate enough to experience the most splendid weather. Despite it being the off-season for tourists due to the heat and humidity, we barely noticed the difference since we were coming from Mumbai. The time we spent on the Halong Bay cruise was particularly delightful, with perfect weather, climate, and refreshing breezes. We noticed that the temperature varied slightly from one place to another throughout the country, but it did not make us feel uncomfortable or uneasy.

Without a doubt, the most captivating experience from our 7-day adventure in Vietnam was the luxurious stay at Laregina Cruise. This exquisite accommodation provided us with a secure and comfortable haven, complete with seamless transfers, which made our journey an everlasting memory. Every moment spent here was absolutely incredible. Lying peacefully on the deck of a regal cruise ship while gazing up at the shining stars above us was truly enchanting. The realization of floating amidst a far-off bay was nothing short of magical. Moreover, the cuisine served aboard the cruise delighted our taste buds with the authentic flavors of Vietnam.

Numerous scenic trekking trails awaited us, and the serene atmosphere of this secluded haven made us instantly fall in love. Wandering along the village lanes, we were greeted by a refreshing and delightful aura.

3. The Beauty of Hoan Kiem Lake

Another awe-inspiring highlight of our week-long journey in Vietnam was our visit to Hoan Kiem Lake. This serene oasis is encircled by Ngoc Son Temple, a sacred structure that dates back to the 13th century. Immersing ourselves in the tranquil ambiance, we found solace for our souls. During our first evening in Hanoi, my spouse and I took a leisurely stroll around this mesmerizing lake, relishing in the enchanting surroundings. The liveliness of Sunday evening brought the lake to life with melodious music performances, talented painters, skilled artists, graceful dancers, and the local community.

Our Accommodation in Vietnam

One of the highlights of our trip to Vietnam, including Hanoi, the Halong Bay Cruise, and Ho Chi Minh City, was the perfect location of our hotels. In Hanoi, our first stop, we had the pleasure of staying right in the heart of the Old Quarter at the Hanoi Peridot Hotel. This charming hotel is situated on Bat Su Street in the Hoan Kiem district. The room was absolutely ideal for a couple, and the staff demonstrated incredible humility, politeness, and utmost helpfulness. We thoroughly enjoyed immersing ourselves in the lively atmosphere of the streets below, where vendors continued to sell their wares even past 10 pm each day. To truly experience the authentic Vietnamese way of life, we highly recommend staying in the Old Quarter. Aside from its old-world charm, this location offers unparalleled convenience due to its central position and proximity to local markets, Hoan Kiem Lake, and other popular attractions, making it one of the top places to stay in Hanoi.

Our next destination was the Halong Bay Cruise, which proved to be the highlight of our trip. In order to experience the best cruise on the bay, we chose to stay aboard the remarkable La Regina Legend Cruise. This extravagant cruise ship boasted the finest cabins, exceptional comfort, a stellar staff, delectable cuisine, and an unforgettable experience. For a duration of 2 nights and 3 days, we set sail and explored the breathtaking Halong Bay and Lan Ha Bay.

After an enchanting 3 days on the Halong Bay, it was time to proceed to our final stop – Ho Chi Minh City, also known as Saigon among the locals. Our accommodation at the Muong Thanh Saigon Hotel was ideally situated right in the heart of the bustling business district, within walking distance of all the major tourist attractions in Saigon. This hotel, designed with business travelers in mind, offered spacious rooms, spotless premises, and a remarkably friendly and helpful staff. Similar to our experience in Hanoi, we fell in love with this hotel due to its unbeatable convenience, which allowed us to independently explore and navigate the area with ease.

Vietnamese Cuisine

In Hanoi, we ventured into local restaurants to indulge in traditional Vietnamese dishes such as Bun Cha, Pho, Vietnamese Spring Rolls, and Banh Mi. One evening, we explored Dong Xuan Market and savored the delectable flavors of Vietnamese hotpot at one of the eateries. It was, without a doubt, the most extraordinary food we had ever tasted! A trip to Vietnam would be incomplete without trying the famous “egg coffee,” and our guide took us to the birthplace of this beverage, Cafe Dinh, conveniently located opposite Hoan Kiem Lake.

The culinary journey continued on the cruise, where we were treated to mind-blowing, authentic Vietnamese cuisine. We even had the opportunity to try our hand at making Vietnamese spring rolls ourselves! In Ho Chi Minh City, we delighted in the fusion of French and American cuisines with traditional Vietnamese flavors at the renowned Nha Hang Ngon restaurant.

Exploring the Markets in Vietnam

Our stay in the heart of the Old Quarter allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in the vibrant markets and bustling night market. A trip to Vietnam wouldn’t be complete without bringing home the iconic Vietnamese farmer’s hat! In addition to the hat, we purchased magnets for our collection and admired the beautiful quilling handicrafts. If you’re interested in jewelry, silk, or other handicrafts, make sure to explore the 36 streets of the Old Quarter, each specializing in a unique commodity.

Useful Tips for Traveling in Vietnam

If you’re adventurous and prefer exploring the cities on your own, it’s recommended to have your maps and directions prepared. Be cautious of taxi drivers who may start the night meter without your knowledge. Stay connected with your travel agent, especially when in doubt. Our travel agent, Ben, was incredibly helpful and ensured our comfort throughout the trip.

What to Wear During Your Vietnam Trip

Since we visited during the summer, we opted for comfortable cotton clothing. It’s advisable to bring sports or walking shoes for exploring the cities on foot. Pack some formal attire for dining on the cruise and consider checking the weather forecast for possible rain. Don’t forget to bring a sunscreen with at least SPF 40, especially if you plan to sunbathe on the cruise deck or spend time in the sun.
