During this trip to Malaysia, I covered Kuala Lumpur, Genting Highlands, and Langkawi, and the weather varied among these three locations. In October, Kuala Lumpur experienced moderate and humid temperatures due to rainfall. Genting Highlands, in comparison, was considerably cooler than KL, but thermals were not necessary. The weather in Genting in October was delightful. On the other hand, Langkawi was quite warm, with temperatures ranging between 25°C and 31°C.

1. Exploring Kuala Lumpur
My journey to Malaysia commenced with a slightly over a 5-hour flight from New Delhi to Kuala Lumpur and I was rather thrilled about it. After settling at the hotel and having lunch there, I headed to the first attraction of my 6-day Malaysia trip which was Batu Caves. These were a succession of caverns and cave temples that had 272 colorful steps to ascend to the summit. The initial sight of this attraction was the golden shimmer of the stunning Lord Murugan sculpture, which also occurs to be the tallest Murugan sculpture in the world, towering at a height of 47.2 meters. The ascent was a tad laborious but the temples and the vistas from atop were exquisite. The temple complex beneath and the apertures above in the limestone caves, from where the light peeked in, appeared delightful after the climb.
After Batu Caves, I proceeded to the Central Market, which was rather near Chinatown. The first thing that caught my attention around Central Market was the graffiti, both captivating and lively. The Central Market itself is a historical building in Malaysia and accommodates over 300 shops that showcase art, culture, food, and experiences. My preferred stop at this market was the Fish Spa, which was an initial time encounter for me. Tingly at the start, it was enjoyable after the first one or two minutes. The market also featured Batik paintings, mementos, and other artsy items including packs of postcards in the form of vintage printed photographs.
The subsequent stop was a crossroad from where I obtained the perfect perspective of the Petronas Twin Towers, the tallest edifice in the world until 2004 and the tallest twin towers to date. 2. A Day At Genting Highlands
No Guide to Traveling in Malaysia is comprehensive without mentioning Genting Highlands. And another highlight of my six-day trip to Malaysia was a day at Genting Highlands. Genting is like a whole different world with a multitude of indoor and outdoor activities. Unfortunately, the outdoor theme park was closed at the time, but that didn’t stop me from having a blast.
The tour began with a delicious lunch at Jom Makan Street Food, where I indulged in delectable South Indian cuisine. The next stop was the Sky Symphony show, which happens to be the only complimentary attraction at Genting Highlands. It’s a visual spectacle, a captivating story told through thousands of floating spheres that dance in the sky. It’s truly entertaining. Afterwards, I went to experience The Void, an exhilarating virtual reality adventure. Based on popular Hollywood stories, there are different missions to embark on, and you can experience it all with a team of four. It was one of the most thrilling experiences throughout the entire trip.
But the day didn’t end there, as I still had the exciting cable car ride in Genting to look forward to. I soon began my descent to Chin Swee Temple in Genting. The moment I stepped onto the glass-bottom gondola, it started to rain. The views of the dense green forest below and all around were awe-inspiring. The glass bottom of the gondola added to the excitement, and the surroundings became misty and enchanting. By the time I reached the temple, the clouds had cleared slightly, offering me breathtaking vistas of this nine-story Chinese temple. It was truly one of the most picturesque sights in Genting.
