Located in the Kui Buri District in the province of Prachuap Khiri Khan, Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park is both a park and a marine park in Thailand. Encompassing a vast area of 98.08 sq km, the combined biodiversity park comprises 20.88 sq km as a marine park, with the remainder designated as a National Park, which includes the neighboring marshes. Khao Sam Roi Yot derives its name from the towering limestone mountains that enclose the park. In English, the park’s name translates to “the mountain with three hundred peaks.”
About Kho Sam Roi Yot National Park
Established in 1966, Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park was Thailand’s inaugural coastal national park. The Park also encompasses the largest freshwater marsh in Thailand. Situated approximately 70 km south of Hua Hin along the south-western coastline of Thailand, this area encompasses a blend of diverse ecosystems. Fortunate to possess an amalgamation of Limestone Mountains, Caves, Beaches, freshwater marshes, offshore islands, and mangrove swamps, this park stands as one of the paramount nature reserves globally, as such diversity is an uncommon sight. Although its biodiversity is not particularly renowned, the National Park serves as a habitat to approximately 316 avian species and around 50 animal species.
